Jakub Klimiuk

Jakub Klimiuk Quintet is a London-based ensemble

that fuses elements of modern jazz inspired by the New York scene with influences drawn from the Scandinavian improvised music scene. The resultant repertoire is a thrilling combination of scripted forms and improvised sections, constantly entwining melodic compositions and experimental sonic escapades.

In 2022 the quintet has released a debut EP entitled „Reluctance” which is a reflection on the uncertainty of current times, a way to express intertwining feelings of hope and skepticism. The album takes the listener on a journey through different sound worlds, spanning from jazz deeply grounded in the genre's tradition to elements of contemporary classical music.

Since the EP’s album launch, the band has been touring in the UK, having performed at the EFG London Jazz Festival and major jazz venues, including Pizza Express Live, Verdict Jazz Club or The Spotted Dog Jazz.

The distinctive sound of the band is shaped by the unique creative voices of five highly in-demand young musicians who have individually worked with Martin Speake, Tom Challenger, NYJO, Hans Koller, Donovan Haffner and performed at venues such as: Ronnie Scott’s, Vortex or 606.
